FAMOUS BEACHES IN ELAFONISSOS

Simos, the most beautiful beach in Europe

On the south side of Elafonisos, 4.5 kilometers from the settlement of Elafonisos, is the internationally famous beach of Simos. A sandy beach with fine golden sand, turquoise waters and dunes in its interior that reach almost 10 m. high. The cedar forest spreads over a large area and connects the two beaches.

Lefki, the “transparent” beach

A little east of Simos, 3.5 km from the settlement and opposite Cape Malia, is the bay of Lefki. A small beach that combines white sand with almost transparent waters.

 Panagia Beach

On the west side of Elafonisos, in the Kato Nisi area, is the beach of Panagia. It is a large sandy beach with green waters. Sand dunes and a cedar forest characterize the landscape. Sun loungers and canteens on the road next to the sea.

Kontogoni, the unexpected diamond beach

Northwest of the settlement and essentially inside the settlement, is Kontogoni beach. A truly hidden diamond since it is a sandy beach a few meters from the port of the settlement with wonderful blue waters and many cafes and restaurants on the waves.

Pavlopetri Elafonisos

The oldest sunken city in the world, in the underwater area of the beach of Pounta and the islet of Pavlopetri that lies between them, 600 m. North-NE from the port of Elafonisos. Waters with a depth of up to 3 m where one can see ancient roads and stone walls. A true magic!

 Agios Spyridonas – The church with the bridge

To the north of the settlement, opposite Pounta, a picturesque 100-meter bridge connects the islet on which the church of Agios Spyridonas is built. Next to the church is a ruined windmill. Idyllic landscape with a wonderful sunset.
